Called to Controversy The Unlikely Story of Moishe Rosen and the Founding of Jews for Jesus By Ruth Rosen

Called to Controversy-The Unlikely Story of Moishe Rosen and the Founding of Jews for Jesus is a biography of one of the pioneers of the Messianic Jewish movement. This fascinating story is about a young Jewish man and how his life was transformed when he met Jesus. Through many trials and victories, he came to found an evangelistic organization directed towards reaching Jewish people with the gospel.

This story is well written, researched, and edited. I was really impressed by Ruth Rosen's ability to tell this story in such a way that it felt like you really got to know Moshie, and not just through a daughter's eyes. She sheds light on so many facets of his personality and the cultural climates in the times that he lived.

Moshie's story captivated me from the very beginning. This is a book for all Christians to read. His groundbreaking work really brought about a dialogue and platform Jewish people to come to Christ. A Jewish Jesus presented to the world! Furthermore, such an amazing move of God is sweeping the nations as Christians are beginning to see and understand the bible from a Jewish perspective, and how this has blown open so much revelation in the present day body of Christ.

I love reading stories of lives well lived for God and how, often in these stories, the direction is pointed right back at Jesus. Get to know him, walk with him, be obedient to him, and you will have your own story, as God is the one that ultimately brings about great victories!

Moshie, I can't wait to meet you one day!

From Blah to Awe By Jenna Lucado Bishop

From Blah to Awe by Jenna Lucado Bishop is a non-fiction book aimed at young women, inspiring contention to deepen their faith walk. It is full of scripture, interesting antidotes, and many ideas to light the fire of intimacy with God.

This book is beautifully styled, and it has lots of spaces to write answers to questions in. It is about soul searching, and where Jesus meets us in the midst of our hearts. Jenna Lucado Bishop definitely inherited her Dad's amazing writing talent. I appreciated how she used examples from her own life through out the book.

Probably my favorite chapter was about how God is a supernatural God, and how when we try to seek him through our souls we often end up discouraged and confused. Jenna brings up a lot of things that young women battle with with. She provides answers in a non-judgmental, truth based way using scripture.

I would not give this book to a tween or young teenager. Although it is written in "girly-girl" talk, there are many mature themes. Without the "let's be girlfriends" chat, this book could easily be adapted to adults, particularly women of any age since so many of the truths in the book are universal to Christianity.

The thing I like most about From Blah to Awe is that it has some good meat. It contains tangible, life-breathing truths that go into the deep issues of the soul.
