Garden of Madness By Tracy L. Higley

Garden of Madness centers around the Babylonian Princess Tiamat, daughter of the great King Nebuchadnezzar.  7 years have gone by since Nebuchadnezzar's  spiral into madness, and Princess Tiamat finds herself newly widowed and exposed to the plots of powerful Magi to take down the throne.  Rejected by her own mother, she searches for truth, only to find an unraveling darkness at work, taking her to the very edge of her sanity and all she holds dear.  Will she embrace the truth of her past only to succumb to the pressures around her, or will she find strength in an unknown god and find the courage to face it all?

All I have to say is WOW.  I have not been this impressed with a novel for a very long time and this is easily my best read all year.  Garden of Madness has the bones and the character of a best seller.  I was intrigued by the story of Princess Tiamat, and though largely fictional,  includes the historical components of the Book of Daniel and makes its reality spring to life!

Although Tracey L. Higley has her own writing style, I found the same passion, the same depth of characters and adventure that I would find in a Francine Rivers book.  She is an amazing writer and visionary.

Behemoth By Jonathan C. Leicht

Behemoth is  a great new fictional thriller by Jonathan C. Leicht.  He is well known for his theories and arguments for Creationism.  Behemoth begins with character's Professor Stephen Gregory and Jim Thompson. They are at different ends of the world and schools of thought, both ending up in the pursuit of something of so real neither could of imagined it... marvelous creatures in the heart of Africa, long thought extinct.

I loved this book!  It was fascinating and kept me up late into the wee morning hours!  Behemoth takes you on such an adventure that you just can't put it down until you know what happens. It's premise was so original, its writing quirky and adventurous.

Leicht interjects many of his creationist theories throughout the book.  I really enjoyed these tidbits of information that really challenge the theory of Evolution.  What I liked about this is that not many may  devote their life to scientific truth like Leicht, but the reader gets their scientific appetite whetted without even picking up a textbook.

I recommend Behemoth,  especially if you are looking for something full of action and adventure.

Stand By Me by Neta Jackson

Stand By Me is a work of fiction, written by the well known and critically acclaimed Neta Jackson.  She continues some of her characters from the Yada-Yada series, including Avis Jackson, a pillar of SouledOut Community Church where the book is set.  Enters Kat Davies, a graduate student at Christa U, full of ideas and knowledge and not a lot of tact.  When Kat moves into Avis' condo building and starts attending SouledOut Community Church, Avis feels like Kat is her personal toe stepper, but, what she doesn't realize is that Kat is about to change her life for the better.

I really liked Stand By Me.  Its characters were very real, and very humorous! At times, a little too real, where I would cringe,  laugh, or feel bad right alongside the character! Neta does a good job of describing the multiculturalism issues at SouledOut Community Church, outlying the various real struggles can that happen, and how they deeply affect the individuals involved.  This was just another depth that she adds to her characters.

All in all, this book was a fun, easy-going read. It is a great book to read when you need to put up your feet and decompress!  5 Stars out of 5.

Eyes of Justice By Lis Wiehl, April Henry

Eyes of Justice is a fictional crime thriller, part of a series that details the lives of three crime fighters called The Triple Threat-a crime reporter, an FBI agent, and a federal prosecutor.  When one of them ends up murdered it is up to her two friends to see justice served, even though the facts don't add up and they are barred from the investigation.  Through a shocking turn of events they realize all their lives are on the line.

Honestly, this is not the kind of book that I normally read but I really liked it. I just couldn't put it down!  I was totally engrossed in the story, shocked by the twists and turns and a little mortified by the plot.  Sounds like good fiction to me!

The writing was great and the characters fascinating and developed.  I thought that they author did a good job of detailing trauma and how each character reacted differently.  I would of liked to have seen more of an "after" to the ending because I liked the characters so much.

All in all, a great read.  4 Stars out of 5.

Dare to Believe: The True Power of Faith to Walk in Divine Healings and Miracles by Becky Dvorak

Dare to Believe is an incredible book on the healing hand of God and how we share in co-laboring with him to bring about his will to heal on earth.  This book is very comprehensive and answers many common questions about divine healing such as:
  • Does God really want to heal me?
  • What do I have to do to be healed?
  • Why did I loose my healing?

Everything in this book is covered scripturally, so even if you have never encountered one teaching on healing before, reading this book will not only provide a foundation to the fundamentals of healing, but will also give you faith through the word to walk in healing, signs and wonders!

My favorite part of this book were the numerous testimonies of incredible miracles that the author has seen throughout her lifetime, and how God has used her mightily to bring restoration and deliverance to so many lives.  Becky also outlines principles of faith based on the miracles of Jesus and the word of God in which to stand on to see divine healing come to pass.

This book will challenge you and is a gift for every believer to learn how to walk in their divine calling and inheritance! I definitely recommend it!
